She got them Special Eyes

We've seen Jade's eyes flare up a couple times before. The first time was before the incident with Claire and Jillie, while the second time happened later, while she was in the quantum realm or whatever.

While what exactly is going on is unclear, what is apparent to me, and I hope to you, is that this is Jade digging into her mana reserves more aggressively, consequences be damned. She likely knew she was going to have to do this at some point during this ritual. Maybe not quite this soon, however. The first time she did this, it burned her out from using magic, and the second time she used that power to cause time to reset completely.

I have to imagine that creating a magical artifact like this in one ritual has to be extraordinarily draining, but for some reason she needs to do it this way.

By the way, I don't know how many people read these blog posts regularly, without being prompted in the comic. If you're reading this, I just want to say hi.

I feel like the way I write these is almost like that of someone who's reading the comic, as opposed to the one who created it. In a way, that's kind of how it feels to create this comic, too. I know a *little* more than I let on in the blog posts, but there are definitely times that I feel more like a conduit through which the story is creating itself. Mainly because I tend to make the comic late at night, while I write these blog posts days or weeks later (depending on the buffer) earlier in the day. Extremely eepy Jade is a different person than functioning adult Jade.
